Frequently Asked Questions

What is Switch ROMs?

Switch ROMs (switch-roms.uk) is a library of Nintendo Switch game pages, built to make finding and downloading games simple. Every game page gives you the full details — file size, version, release date, language, firmware and Title ID — along with screenshots of the game in action. You also get a download link in NSP or XCI format, the two formats used for Switch games. New games and updates are added regularly, so the library keeps growing.

Do I need an account or payment to download?

No. There is no registration, no account and no payment anywhere on this site. Just open the game page you want, press the download button, and follow the simple steps on the download page. If a game has an update file as well as the base game, both are listed clearly on the same page, so you can take everything in one visit.

What is the difference between NSP and XCI?

NSP is the format used for digital games bought from the Nintendo eShop, while XCI is the format dumped from a physical game cartridge. In practice, the game itself is exactly the same in both formats — same content, same gameplay. Both formats work on emulators and on a modded console, so you can pick whichever you find. If a page offers both, choose the one your setup already uses.

Which emulator should I use?

On PC, Ryujinx is the top choice for accuracy and compatibility — it runs most Switch games smoothly and true to the original. Yuzu is loved for its speed and easy setup, and it handles a long list of games very well. Suyu, the community fork of Yuzu, carries that work forward with fresh fixes and improvements. On Android, Suyu and Egg NS are the popular choices. Our emulator guides explain the full setup step by step, so you can be playing within minutes.

Can I play these games on my phone?

Yes — modern Android phones can run Switch emulators such as Suyu and Egg NS. You will need a recent, powerful phone with a strong processor and enough RAM, because Switch games are demanding. Light games run well on mid-range phones, while the biggest titles need a flagship device for smooth speed. Performance also improves if you close other apps and keep your phone cool while playing.

A download link is broken. What should I do?

Links can stop working from time to time, and we fix them as fast as we can. Go to our Contact Us page and send us the name of the game and the link of its page. We check every reported link and replace it with a working one as soon as possible. You can also report it in our Discord server, where the team and other members can help you quickly.

The game I want is not on the site. Can I request it?

Yes, game requests are welcome. Send the game name through our Contact Us page, or ask in our Discord server — requests there are usually seen fastest. We add requested games as soon as a proper, complete copy is available, with full details and screenshots like every other page. Popular requests are added first, so it always helps to ask.

Do you have Switch 2 games?

This site covers games for the original Nintendo Switch (Switch 1) only. Switch 2 games use different files and a different system, and they do not run on Switch 1 consoles or on Switch 1 emulators. If you are looking for a game that was released for both systems, check the game page carefully — the version listed here is always the Switch 1 version.

Is it legal to download ROMs?

The law on ROMs is different in every country, so it is your responsibility to know the rules where you live. Our clear recommendation is simple: only download copies of games you already own, on cartridge or digitally. A personal backup of your own game is treated very differently from downloading games you never bought. Switch ROMs does not encourage piracy.
